Nos anos 1980, integrou, com Rodrigo Andrade, F\u00e1bio Miguez, Nuno Ramos e Paulo Monteiro, o ateli\u00ea coletivo Casa 7, de S\u00e3o Paulo. As tend\u00eancias do neoexpressionismo eram vis\u00edveis na produ\u00e7\u00e3o desses artistas, tendo em vista a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de superf\u00edcies de grandes dimens\u00f5es e a \u00eanfase no gesto pict\u00f3rico. No fim dessa d\u00e9cada, ap\u00f3s a dissolu\u00e7\u00e3o do grupo e alguns experimentos com enc\u00e1ustica, Carvalhosa concebeu quadros com cera pura ou misturada a pigmentos. Nos anos 1990, dedicou-se \u00e0 produ\u00e7\u00e3o de esculturas de apar\u00eancia org\u00e2nica e male\u00e1vel, utilizando materiais diversos, caso das \u201cceras perdidas\u201d. Ainda em meados dessa d\u00e9cada, fez tamb\u00e9m as esculturas em porcelana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/acervocarlitocarvalhosa.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/CC-10158-%C2%A9Steve-Benisty-fotor-2025110614344-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8916\" style=\"width:431px;height:auto\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Carvalhosa attributed profound eloquence to the materiality of the support, but\ntranscended it and addressed broader issues, related to the transformations of\nspace and time. In his practice, we are faced with the tension between form and\nmatter, made explicit in the disjunction between the visible and the tactile. What we\nsee is not what we touch, just as what we touch is not what we see. From the\n2000s onwards, the artist made paintings on mirrored surfaces that, in the words of\ncurator Paulo Ven\u00e2ncio Filho, \"place our presence within them\". Not infrequently,\nCarvalhosa made installations in which, in addition to the usual techniques, he\nused materials such as fabrics and lamps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His main solo exhibitions are: A Metade do Dobro, at the Tomie Ohtake Institute\n(2024), in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil; The Nature of Things, at Sesc Pompeia (2024), in S\u00e3o\nPaulo, Brazil; Matter as Image.
